Nothin But A Good Time

about

Of all the hair metal bands, I really like Poison a lot. They were very much just a rock band wearing costumes and speaking in a certain vernacular.

When I first moved in with my first live-in girlfriend she had a cat (I had never had a cat before) and as you do, you start to project a personality on your pets.

We speculated that the cat's favorite band was Poison and as a result ended up buying a Poison Greatest Hits CD which sat next to her cat bed for a couple of years. Every time I hear Poison I still think "Oh! That's [cat's name]'s favorite band! She loved them..."

I kind of just assume that most cats like this band.

I shamelessly love this song. It's very much an accessible sing-a-long pop song which just as easily have been a hit for Bachman-Turner Overdrive.

The narrative of working a blue collar job in order to piss away your income on having fun is always good fodder for a three-minute pop song. Most people in first-world countries can relate to it on some level or another.

I only recently learned that the neon colors used in the bands logo were the result of their early marketing attempts. The fluorescent photocopy paper was apparently cheaper because at the time it was less desirable for office use. The band bought it because it was cheap and used it as part of a handbill/flyer direct marketing campaign on the Sunset Strip. The colors became a part of their brand identity.

I've never actually seen Poison in concert, but I would like to someday.
